Dachshunds are like Ice cream, They come in all sorts of colors! Here are just some of the "variety"

The Color Wheel:
*Red
Some shades of red look pretty much like brown, but they are still concidered reds.
*Wheaten
This is just a really light red.
*Blank & Tan
This common color is a combination
*Wild Boar
Brown or gray with a little black
*Cream
They Range from gold to almost white. Now the real creames have a black nose and are always longhaired, so if someone's got a "cream" with a liver colored nose and short hair, they just have a light red.
*Sable
This is a rare color that is only in longhaired, it resembles a red with a black undercoat.
*Chocolate
Simply a brown-brown.

Pattens:
*Solid
Such as red.
*Solid with points
Such as black and tan, choclate and tan, etc.
*Dapple
Dappling, also called merling, is a pattern in which random ragged patches of a lighter color (not white) cover a darker color.
*Double Dapple
A dapple but it also has random patches of white. You must be VERY careful when obtaining one of these as they can sometimes be born blind or deaf. Most will have one or both eyes blue.
*Piebald
A solid white Dachshund with patches of another solid color.
*Brindled
A rugged striped pattern.
