Dachshunds are quite the over achiever, they can jump as high as your counter tops! They just want to play, they never run out of energy, curiousity, or love.

Don't let thier small size fool you, they may only be half a dog tall, but they have the energy of a greyhound!

With a mind of thier own, Dachshunds are slightly difficult to train, training will be much eaisier with NO punishment (this hurts thier feelings, slowing down the training) and once you find their drive (FOOD)But don't let anyone fool you, they are trainable!
Family life: 5
Great with (older) kids, and immedietly grows very close with the family, so close they will be protective. Quite "shy" (as in iffy about) around strangers. Minis are not recommended for small chlidren because they are small themselves. Standards are not recommended either because in both cases they have a very sensitive back and if they are around children, they must always be supervised and the children need to be taught what they can and can't do around the dog.
